Wethersfield Public Schools has an opening for an Elementary Math Interventionist and is seeking someone who is able to work with our diverse population of learners. This role works 35 hours per week (7 hours per day according to the collective bargaining agreement), Monday through Friday. We are targeting filling this role for the 2026-2027 academic year.

Compensation: $ (full-time annual) per WFT contract

The Math Interventionist provides targeted, research-based mathematics instruction to students who need additional support to build foundational skills, confidence, and problem-solving abilities. Using assessment data and progress monitoring, the interventionist identifies student needs, adjusts instruction, and collaborates closely with classroom teachers to ensure alignment with core curriculum and MTSS/SRBI practices. The position requires effective communication with families, teachers, and administrators, along with maintaining accurate records of student progress. The Math Interventionist also integrates technology, supports staff with data-driven decision-making, and participates in ongoing professional learning. Overall, the role is essential in promoting continuous academic growth and helping students achieve success in mathematics.
Duties and responsibilities include:
- Provide targeted, research-based math intervention in small-group and one-on-one settings.
- Identify students for intervention using assessment data and progress monitoring tools.
- Analyze student data to adjust instruction and improve outcomes.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to align interventions with core instruction and student goals
- Participate actively in MTSS/RTI processes, including meetings and intervention planning.
- Collaborate with school staff to support math instruction
- Plan and deliver standards-aligned lessons tailored to individual student needs and abilities.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress, assessments, and required documentation.
- Communicate student progress clearly with teachers, administrators, and families.
- Support teachers in data collection, analysis, and instructional decision-making.
- Coordinate and implement push-in and pull-out intervention services.
- Utilize instructional technology and math intervention programs to support student learning.
- Foster a positive learning environment that promotes student engagement, confidence, and achievement.
- Engage in ongoing professional learning to stay current with best practices in math instruction.
- Perform additional duties aligned to mathematics support and district priorities as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Current CT elementary teaching certification required;
- Knowledge of current research and best practices in mathematics teaching and learning;
- Proficient technology skills;
- Strong leadership and collaboration skills;
- Strong instruction skills inclusive of oral and written communication.
