    POSITION OVERVIEW:

    The Athletic Director provides leadership for the development, organization, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of the district\"s PK12 athletic, physical education, health, and wellness programs. This position ensures alignment with the district\"s mission and vision, promotes continuous growth in student health and well-being, and upholds high standards of safety, equity, and sportsmanship. The Athletic Director oversees interscholastic athletics, Physical Education and Health programming, and wellness initiatives, and is responsible for the effective use and supervision of district athletic facilities. (see attached job description for typical duties and responsibilities).

    EVALUATES/SUPERVISES: All PE/Health educators PK-12, Athletic Trainer, all athletic coaches and other staff as deemed appropriate.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & CERTIFICATIONS

    • Connecticut State Department of Education 092 Certification (Intermediate Administrator or Supervisor) required.
    • Valid Connecticut State Department of Education coaching permit.
    • Minimum of three (3) years of successful experience in teaching, administration, coaching, or athletic leadership.
    • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of CIAC rules and regulations.
    • Demonstrated ability to lead, supervise, and evaluate staff.
    • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
    • Commitment to student safety, wellness, and ethical leadership.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Previous experience as a district or high school athletic director.
    • Demonstrated success in program development and budget management.

    SALARY AND TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

    • Full-time, 12-month administrative position.
    • Salary and benefits in accordance with the Torrington Public Schools Administrators Association. Salary for the 2026/2027 school year is $130,500.
