    Elementary Math Interventionist

    Title: Elementary Math Interventionist (Grades K4)
    Work Year: 10-month
    Department: Grades K-4, all elementary schools
    FLSA Status: Represented, Exempt
    Reports To: Building Principal
    Salary Range: $56,974 $113,513 pending degree level

    Position Overview:

    The Elementary Interventionist supports student achievement in grades K4 by providing targeted academic interventions in literacy and mathematics. The Interventionist works with students who require additional instructional support through Tier II and Tier III interventions and collaborates with teachers, administrators, and families to improve student outcomes.

    The Interventionist uses assessment and student performance data to identify learning needs, implement research-based instructional strategies, monitor student progress, and support school teams in making instructional decisions that promote academic growth.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Instructional Support and Student Intervention

    • Provide targeted instruction to individual students and small groups in reading and/or mathematics.
    • Design and implement research-based interventions aligned with student learning needs.
    • Evaluate student achievement and assist in designing and implementing scientifically based interventions, primarily in reading or mathematics.
    • Conduct diagnostic and progress monitoring assessments to guide instructional planning.

    Data Analysis and Progress Monitoring

    • Use assessment and performance data to identify students in need of intervention services.
    • Monitor the progress of students with RTI plans and share results with appropriate stakeholders.
    • Maintain documentation related to student performance, intervention strategies, and outcomes.
    • Use student data to guide instructional decisions and program improvement.

    Collaboration and Communication

    • Collaborate with teachers regarding student performance concerns and intervention planning.
    • Participate in school teams that review student progress and determine appropriate supports.
    • Communicate with teachers, administrators, and families regarding student progress and intervention strategies.

    Program Support

    • Assist in identifying students who may benefit from intervention services.
    • Support implementation of assessment tools and data management systems related to intervention programs.
    • Contribute to the development and improvement of school intervention programs.

    Additional Responsibilities

    • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Elementary Education or Principal.

    Education & Experience:

    • Valid Connecticut teaching certification required (005, 013, 305).
    • Minimum of five (5) years of successful classroom teaching experience preferred.
    • Experience implementing research-based instructional strategies and interventions.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    • Knowledge of research-based instructional strategies and intervention practices.
    • Knowledge of progress monitoring and assessment-driven instruction.
    • Ability to analyze student performance data and design appropriate interventions.
    • Strong collaboration and communication skills when working with teachers, administrators, families, and students.
    • Ability to organize and manage intervention groups and maintain accurate records.
    • Proficiency in educational technology and district data systems.

    Physical and Cognitive Demands:

    Work in this classification is performed primarily in classroom and school environments with frequent interaction with students and staff. Duties may require occasional lifting of instructional materials weighing up to 10 pounds and frequent use of instructional technology.

    The employee must be able to hear clearly (correctable to within normal limits) and see with vision correctable to 20/20. The role requires effective communication, analysis of instructional data, and the ability to support students and staff in instructional settings.
